Bitcoin Builder Opportunities: Teams and Project Ideas
Wallet recovery, payment operations, mining and network testing each need different evidence. Use this research map to choose a direction, then make one small piece of work that a team can assess.
What this scan found
Our 14 September 2026 scan added eight companies and eleven resources to Bitcoin CV. The most useful additions expand the kinds of work a candidate can explore: timelocked wallet recovery, policy-controlled automation, mining infrastructure, ecash clients and reproducible Bitcoin network experiments.
These are editorial directions based on the products and tools reviewed, not measured hiring-demand rankings. We found no new confirmed developer or designer vacancy among the eight added teams. At the time of this research batch, the 30-role collection had been reviewed on 13 September; funding was not rechecked in the batch. For subsequent daily updates, use the current job collection and the dated funding cards.
Choose a problem and a piece of evidence
The project ideas below are original suggestions. They are not assignments from the named teams. Select the smallest one you can explain and test without putting real funds at risk.

For designers: make the difficult state understandable
A strong design contribution can begin where a user has to make a consequential decision: a recovery path is still locked, an invoice has expired, a signer is missing or a requested amount exceeds a policy. State the user’s question, show the relevant information and make the next action clear. Explain where you relied on documentation and where you still need engineering confirmation.
For wallet recovery, Liana’s repository includes a GUI, contribution instructions and a Signet trial route. That makes it possible to study a real interface and produce a bounded proposal. For automation, Nunchuk’s developer page exposes a useful design question: how should a person understand the authority they are granting? Its displayed quickstart uses mainnet, so a first portfolio study should remain a prototype with fictional data.
Use the design portfolio guide to record alternatives and actual observations. A prototype is valid evidence of design reasoning; label it as a prototype and avoid invented user research.
Eight additional teams to investigate
Company descriptions were checked against the organizations’ own sites. We followed Fold’s own careers link and inspected its live board. Block’s current board was also inspected in a browser; older search snippets did not establish a current vacancy. No country or remote eligibility is assumed for these directory additions.

Browse all 46 companies and organizations. A directory entry is a research lead. It does not establish a customer relationship, a freelance budget or an invitation to send an unsolicited pitch.
Two learning gaps worth closing
If you know a programming language but struggle to connect it to Bitcoin, Blockchain Commons’ command-line course connects commands with scripts, timelocks and programming interfaces. Choose a relevant chapter and record the environment rather than treating every historical example as current for your installation.
If you can implement something but cannot explain the tradeoffs, Bitcoin Development Philosophy offers a reading path through decentralization, privacy, adversarial thinking and review. Use it to write a decision note that names an alternative and its costs. The book assumes basic Bitcoin knowledge.
Keep the architecture honest
The tools in this map solve different problems. A mining protocol is not a wallet SDK, and an application built around ecash has different trust assumptions from an on-chain self-custodial wallet. Cashu’s protocol overview describes mints issuing bearer tokens; Fedimint’s overview describes community custody. Explain who must remain available and what a user depends on, rather than using “Bitcoin” as a substitute for an architecture description.
Do not label a local test as proof of production reliability. Name the software version, network, data source and limits of the experiment. A precise limitation is useful information for an employer or client.
A practical next step
- Choose one direction. Match it to your current skills and an actual product problem. Read the source before selecting a tool.
- Define one observable outcome. For example: “Explain and demonstrate an invoice expiring without marking the order paid.”
- Build the smallest useful artifact. Include the normal path, one failure and a repeatable setup or prototype.
- Ask for focused feedback. Follow a project’s contribution rules and ask a question a reviewer can answer.
- Connect the evidence to work. Add the artifact to your CV, compare it with a current employer listing, or use it to define a scoped freelance service.
